Myofascial Release can also be referred to as Deep Tissue Massage.
This technique uses deep, slow strokes to release “snags” in the muscle
fibers and the connective tissue (fascia) surrounding the muscle.
Releasing tension in the muscles and fascia helps to restore the
physiological and chemical balance of the body. Contrary to popular
belief, Myofascial Release does not have to be painful.
Neuromuscular Technique
This technique works with the nervous system to reestablish a healthy tone in the muscles. Specific tender sites, called “trigger points”, are caused when muscles become weak & inhibited. The trigger points are small specific muscle contractions that do not allow blood to flow through the tissue. By gently releasing the trigger points & tight bands, blood is allowed to rush back into the area, resulting in decreasing pain.
Orthomassage
Orthomassage is Orthopedic Massage & it is not only used for clients with injuries. It can be used to structurally balance our bodies thus relieving the stresses from today's world. Orthomassage takes injury evaluation & treatment one step further by including the ability to treat scar tissue deep within the joint. This technique relies on all of the above listed techniques as well as using gentle joint mobilization (not chiropractic manipulation) and traction to release adhesions in the joint capsules.
Injury Evaluation & Treatment
The body’s response to acute or repetitive injuries is to repair itself with scar tissue. While the scarring initially does a good job of stabilizing the injury, in the long run the injury site is left less mobile, more tender and more prone to re-injury. Over time, treatment massage applied to the site of the injury mechanically decreases the excess of scar tissue & aids in realigning the scar tissue creating a functional scar. Compensatory patterns the body has developed as a result of the injury are addressed as well.
Craniosacral Technique
A light touch technique, focusing on the head and sacrum,
which normalizes the flow of cerebral spinal fluid bathing and
nourishing the brain and spinal cord. As a result muscle tension
patterns are released, the nervous and endocrine systems are balanced
and the immune system is enhanced. People often experience deep
relaxation and relief on a level far beyond those resulting from
standard massage techniques.
Pregnancy/ Postpartum Massage
Receiving
massage during & after pregnancy can ease the physical and hormonal
changes in the body. This technique is gentle and specifically
designed to support the mother and fetus through all three
terms of pregnancy and the “let down” of postpartum. Women who receive
massage during and after pregnancy are often able to stay more active
& mobile and have more ease with the baby's delivery.
