Chris L. Widlund, LMP is a Licensed Massage Practitioner specializing in reducing pain and increasing mobility for people of all ages. As a graduate of the Brian Utting School Of Massage in Seattle, WA, she was privileged to receive training of the highest standards in both academics and techniques of massage. She has been in private practice since 2003. She has continued to expand her understanding of the human body and its response to touch through advanced studies in Craniosacral, Myofascial Release, Orthomassage and Pregnancy Massage. She also works closely with several medical doctors in Chittenden County to facilitate their patients' recovery from injury or chronic pain.
Chris' passion with the abilities and limitations of the human body, began at an early age. As a professional modern dancer, following a BFA from the University of Illinois, she discovered that massage and other types of bodywork addressed her body's need to heal quickly and completely from various injuries. With a love of and respect for the human body, the medical field attracted her. She has worked as a Surgical Assistant, a Health Care Associate in Women's Health as well as worked for a rural ambulance service as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Chris has also taught Wilderness Emergency Medicine.
Chris is a Professional Member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). She also serves on the Board of Directors for the local Vermont AMTA Chapter. She is 1st Vice-President and Government Relations Chair for Vermont. It is Chris' professional hope to create an increased working relationship with state legislators as she work toward the creation of a Vermont state license for Massage Therapy.
As a massage therapist, Chris approaches the human body with the belief that relieving pain and stress allows the opportunity for healing and improved health.
